Raison d’être:
Through this blog I hope to elucidate some of my findings and ideas related to charities, philanthropy, and the non-profit sector. In general you will find a decidedly market oriented bias in my posts. My general theories on the non-profit sector specify that the sector is not truly distinct, but instead made up of a mix of organizations that without the rubric of the third sector would be classified as businesses. I do not propose that non-profits should act more like businesses. I believe that for-profit business can learn a great deal from non-profits.
At times my posts will be primarily to myself, enabling me to utilize the search and tag functions of the blog site to organize my thoughts and notes. Other times, my posts will react to items reviewed – books, journal articles, and other blogs.
Contrarian Positions:
I hold many contrarian positions. As an anarcho-capitalist I hold a heavy bias against government in any form or action. Holding this particular view often brings my ideas into conflict with views of many who work and research in my area of interest. I always strive to be civil and honest. Please attempt to do so in any comments or critiques of posts on this site.
